Personal Status Court

About the court and its jurisdiction 
One of the specialized Courts in Courts of First Instance that is presided over by a judge whose grade is not less than an appeal judge and who, in terms of administrative supervision, reports to the Court President of the Courts of First Instance. It has the jurisdiction to consider personal status lawsuits, such as :
1- Personal status - Muslims 
2-Personal status - non-Muslims
3- Pecuniary status - Muslims 
4- Pecuniary status - Non-Muslims 
5- Estates - Muslims 
6- Estates - Non-Muslims 
7- Inclusion and exclusion of a Muslim heir 
8- Inclusion and exclusion of a Non-Muslim heir 
7- Certifications and endorsements 

About personal status claims 
The Personal Status Court has the power to consider all lawsuits and disputes related to personal status, such as divorce, alimony, fostering lawsuits, and the like. The Court also hears lawsuits related to pecuniary status, such as interdiction, appointment and dismissal of administrator, granting permission to sell or invest the funds of minors and persons with similar status. It also has the jurisdiction to certify legal marriage contracts for Muslims and civil marriage contracts for non-Muslims, statements related to wills, issuance of legal notifications, determination of heirs, registration of estate files to list and distribute them and approve agreements related to them. Moreover, the Court has the competence to issue divorce certificates and endorse agreements related to them as well as other certificates related to the social status of society members in the Emirate of Dubai as per legal jurisdiction.  

Court formation 
The Court is formed of partial judicial circuits presided over by a single judge who manages it and adjudicates its lawsuits  according to the sessions and dates set for each circuit. It is important to note that all the sessions held by these circuits are secret sessions that are attended only by the parties to the lawsuit, their legal agents, and those authorized by the court such as witnesses, family arbitrators, experts or others.
